Degree Works Transfer Equivalency Tool

General Information

The Degree Works Transfer Equivalency tool provides prospective and admitted students with an accurate estimation of which college credits will transfer to Ƶ, including AP and IB credits. Kettering’s Degree Works contains a comprehensive database of all courses that have  previously been evaluated from other institutions and is the same tool used by the Registrar’s office to complete an official transcript evaluation once an admitted student submits their .

If a course at your institution is not listed, it either has not previously been evaluated or it does not have an equivalent course at Ƶ. Contact our Associate Director of Transfer Admissions for more information.

General Education Requirements

Ƶ's General Education Requirements include the following: COMM-101 (Rhetoric and Writing); ECON-201 (Economic Principles); one 200-level elective each in Humanities and Social Science; one 300- or 400-level elective each in Humanities and Social Science; one additional 300- or 400-level Humanities OR Social Science elective; and LA-489 Senior Seminar (only available at Kettering).

Community College Students: While advanced (300- and 400-level) Humanities and Social Science courses are not available at community colleges, transfer students will have satisfied COMM-101, two 200-level electives, and three advanced electives if they present a transcript from an accredited institution within the United States documented as having (one of these):

  1. Satisfied the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA)

  2. Satisfied an Out-of-State Statewide Equivalency Agreement; or 

  3. Completed an associate's degree.

Students with an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution within the United States will have satisfied the following General Education requirements: COMM-101, two 200-level liberal arts electives, three advanced liberal arts electives, and LS-489.

Note: The Degree Works Transfer Equivalency Tool does not reflect the impact of MTA or completed degrees, so your Degree Works results may indicate that additional general education courses will need to be completed at Kettering. Completion of MTA or degrees will be reflected in your official transcript evaluation after you .

Instructions

  1. Gather your unofficial  transcripts for all college courses and AP/IB exams.
  2. Click on the link.
  3. It is recommended to create an account in order to save your work.
  4. Complete each section of the tool. If you do not know which concentration or minor you want, select “None.”
  5. Add each course or AP/IB exam from each institution where you received credit. If you are currently taking classes or know which courses you plan to complete in the future, include those courses and record a “C” or better in the Degree Works tool.
  6. Save your results as a PDF. To review your Degree Works results or for other questions, please schedule a call with Ƶ’s Associate Director of Transfer Admissions.
